The members of the Student Council have been very busy helping to organise a “Meet and Greet” session between all classes. All members recognised the importance of meeting and greeting another class in Scoil Naomh Pádraig, as junior and senior classes share different break times. All senior classes will team up with a junior class on Thursday December 18th in order to generate some festive cheer amongst all pupils. Pupils from our special classes have the option of integrating with their mainstream class or having an independent “Meet and Greet” hour with Junior Infants. The purpose of the “Meet and Greet” session is to promote the formation of friendships and to encourage conversations between pupils of different class levels. This promotes the well-being of all members of our school community.
Members of the Student Council came up with some great ideas for the “Meet and Greet” hour including:
Winter Wellness Walk: both classes walk around the grounds of Scoil
Naomh Pádraig with every senior pupil accompanying a junior pupil.
Christmas chat: senior pupils chat to junior pupils focusing on the theme of Christmas. Conversation prompts provided.
Read a Christmas story: senior pupils read to junior pupils.
Christmas Jumper Parade: pupils are allowed to wear Christmas jumpers that day. Why not have a mini fashion parade of Christmas jumpers!
Share my toys at Christmas: junior infant classes will play with pupils from
the class next door.
We hope that everyone will take a well earned break from the books and enjoy some festive fun with another class. Keep an eye on Twitter and our website to see what the classes will get up to for the “Meet and Greet” hour.
The Student Council of Scoil Naomh Pádraig wishes everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas and every blessing for 2026!
Nollaig shona daoibh go léir!
We were overwhelmed with the generosity of our school community to the Cork Penny Dinners Collection.
Míle Buíochas gach duine🙏
Pictured here are the members of our Student Council with some members of the Kanturk Community Council.
A summary of the main points discussed is outlined below.
1. Notice Board:
All council members were busy completing their personal profiles for display on the Student Council Notice Board. All profiles are now on display on the Notice Board.
Any important updates will be on display on the top of the noticeboard. For example, the date of the next meeting and the focus for the month. Take a look at our newly decorated Notice Board and keep an eye out for upcoming events!
2. “World Kindness Day”
This month we are celebrating “World Kindness Day” on Thursday November 13th. Members of the student council came up with some great ideas to celebrate World Kindness Day.
Such suggestions include:
Kind Words: say kind words to the person sitting next to you.
Kind Notes: each pupil writes their name on a piece of paper. All pieces of paper are passed around the room. Each pupil writes one kind word about that person.
Kind Neighbours: each class teams up with a neighbouring class and share kind words with each other.
3. “In November, We remember”
November is a special month as we remember those who are no longer with us. Members of the Student Council helped Ms. O’Riordan to distribute leaves to all the classrooms. Pupils/staff are invited to write the names of deceased family members on the leaves. Leaves will be on display on the tree in the main reception.
4. Assembly:
Our next assembly will take place on November 19th. Mrs. Finnegan has kindly allowed two members of our Student Council to speak at each assembly, giving updates and information about recent/upcoming activities. Each member of the Student Council will get an opportunity to speak at some stage throughout the year.
5. Pupil Suggestion Boxes:
Pupil suggestion boxes will be placed on every floor of the school in order to encourage pupils to share ideas about enhancing school life. All suggestions will be considered and shared amongst school staff. The purpose of the suggestion boxes is to promote the development of the student voice in Scoil Naomh Pádraig.
The following items were discussed & decided on:
Wednesday 22nd: Hallowe'en Disco- No Homework
Thursday 23rd: *Treat* Day
"Costume Parade" on Thurs 23rd @ Sos time.... More details to follow.
Friday 24th: No School.
Introducing the newly elected members of the
Scoil Naomh Pádraig
Student Council 2025/2026.
All systems go ahead of our #StudentCouncil election.
Boxes and ballot papers have been delivered to the classrooms.
Best of luck to all.
Inclusion was the theme of this weeks Friendship Week at Scoil Naomh Pádraig.
All pupils engaged in numerous fun filled activities promoting friendships both inside and outside the classroom.
Friendship Week commenced with pupils in all classes playing a game called “Secret Pals”.
Each pupil picked a name (one of their peers) out of a hat and secretly monitored that pupil for the week.
Secret Pals were revealed at the end of the week.
The Friendship Trail promoted friendship between classrooms with every senior pupil accompanying a
junior pupil as they walked the Friendship Trail.
Messages about friendship were on display all around the grounds of Scoil Naomh Pádraig, along
with clues providing the location of the next poster.
The pupils clocked up their “steps” as they explored every inch of Scoil Naomh Pádraig trying to locate clues.
Their faces beamed with excitement as they tried to guess the location of the next friendship message.
Finally, all the pupils of Scoil Naomh Pádraig designed and labelled a jigsaw piece.
All jigsaw pieces will collectively be assembled to create the Scoil Naomh Pádraig Jigsaw Puzzle, which is on display in the school.
The jigsaw includes all members of our school community promoting friendship and companionship amongst all.

We are starting the process of electing a Student Council in the school. Elections will be taking place very shortly. The children understand that if they are in a committee already in the school they can’t go for election this time.
