Summer Newsletter June 25th, 2025
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
• We congratulate 6th class pupils as they complete their education in our
school. We wish you every success and happiness in secondary school in the
future. We acknowledge the families of those children who no longer have
siblings in the school. We thank you for support down through the years.
• We are after a busy month of June with activities and events, some being
Friendship Week, Active Schools Week, Sports Days, 6th Class Graduation
Ceremony, School Tours. It has been a wonderful time, and we sincerely
thank everybody involved in the organisation and preparation of the children
for all these events.
• We thank and congratulate our Parents’ Association for all your wonderful
work and support throughout the year. Your dedication and support is very
much appreciated and acknowledged.
• You should have received your school report through Aladdin last week. If
you did not receive yours, please email office@kanturkns.com.
• Your child will have received a stationery list for next year and they will
have met their class teacher for September. If you did not receive this please
email the office. All lists will be available to view on our school website as
well as our School Calendar.
• As the summer holidays approach and our school prepares to close, I would
like to thank the whole school community for your work, commitment and
co-operation in the school at all times.
• The school will be closing on Thursday June 26th.
6th class children will be going home at 11.30a.m.,
Children from 3rd to 5th will be going home at 12.15 (and they will collect
their younger siblings) while Junior – 2nd class will be going home at 12.30.
• We wish you all a fun filled, safe holiday. We look forward to seeing you all
bright and refreshed on Friday, August 29th at 9a.m. Attached please find
school calendar for next year.
• We remind you of the swop and drop of school jumpers and shorts in the
school reception area.
• We also remind you of the books on display in the school reception. Please
feel free to have a browse and pick a book that might be of interest to your
child.
• We remind you of our Green Schools celebration today at 1.30p.m. in the
school grounds as we raise our 6th Green Flag focusing on the theme of
‘Biodiversity’.
• As you are aware we are saying a fond farewell to 3 of our teaching staff –
Mrs. Anne Murphy, Mrs. Úna Meehan, Mrs. Margaret O’Shea. Between them
they have been teaching a century!!! We once again wish them a very
Happy Retirement.
• A big thank you to all the staff of Scoil Naomh Pádraig who keep our school
a happy safe place for learning and teaching.

Newsletter June 19th, 2025
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
We hope you are all well & looking forward to the Summer Holidays!
Just some information to keep you up to date on events happening in Our School.
Your Child's end of year school reports have now been issued & are available to view on Aladdin. Should you have any issues viewing, please email office@Kanturkns.com.
Your Child will be allocated his/her Class Teacher for next year on Monday 23rd June. Your Childs new teacher will give you a stationary list of items required for the coming year which you can purchase over the summer. We remind you that any copies, notebooks, hardback copies, Music Folder, Tin Whistle, folders from this year can be re-used for the coming School year.
Active Schools Week & Friendship Week are going very well. The whole school are enjoying lots of fun, activities & interaction with each other.
School Tours have begun with the last School Tour being on June 24th.
We had a very successful Sports day on June 17th: The Children had a fantastic day of fun & sportmanship. The Children will be taking part in Yoga tomorrow, If you have any Yoga Mats at home, You might send them in with your Child. We thank all Staff involved for their super organising of these events.
On Monday June 23rd, at 7.30p.m we will have 6th Class Graduation Ceremony in the School Hall.
We remind you that you are invited to follow the Schools Creative Schools Art Trail tomorrow Friday June 20th 2-4pm. There is a trail on each floor& you will be guided along the trail/ corridor by the Creative Schools Committee. The trail does not include access to Classrooms. We hope you enjoy the great work completed by the Children. We thank everyone involved in the organisation of this.
Friday June 20th is the "Swap & Drop" Uniform Day. For your convenience it will take place on the Ground Floor (Near Reception) from 2-4pm. If you have any uniforms, you can go to the designated area foryour child's group. For those in 6th class with no siblings, we would be grateful if you would consider donating uniforms (if in good condition) to the school. To participate is optional. Thanking you in advance.
We all know how important reading is for personal, academic & social growth. With the Summer holidays coming up, we askthat you read as much as possible to your child. Older Children are encouraged to read independently. In the front hall ofthe school, you will see a selection of books. Please feel free to browse & you are welcome to pick up some books that might be of interest to your child.
Green Schools Committee - We congratulate our Green Schools Committee again on coordinating the theme of Biodiversity & being awarded our 6th Green Flag. We will have our Green Schools Ceremony on Wednesday June 25th at 1.30p.m in the School Grounds. Parents/ Guardians are welcome to attend.
We have Three Teaching Members of Staff Retiringthis year, namely Mrs. Úna Meehan, Mrs. Margaret O'Shea & Mrs. Anne Murphy. Our Cleaner Ms. Ursula Carroll is also leaving the School. These 4 people have given huge service in both the Convent Primary School and & Scoil Naomh Pádraig. After decades of Shaping young minds, inspiring Colleagues & making Classrooms feel like home they are off to open a new chapter in their lives. To celebrate these individual milestones, we are having a Mass of Thanksgiving in Kanturk Church on Wednesday June 25th at 10a.m. We invite families of the retirees, Parents, Guardians, extended families, past pupils & colleagues to attend. We hope as many as possible can make it, for those who cannot attend, the mass will be live streamed through Kanturk Parish Church. Please see their website for link to view.

Newsletter 5th of June 2025
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Just keeping you updated on events happening in the school.
The testing is almost complete and you will be receiving your school reports
soon.
Your child will be allocated his/her teacher for next year very shortly. The
school will be supplying books, workbooks and copies. The teachers for next
year will give your child a stationery list, which you can purchase over the
summer. We remind you that if you have any unused copies or notebooks, you can keep
them for next year. Similarly keep your Music folder and tin whistle for next
year.
We have Active Schools Week and Friendship Week taking place in the school from June 16th
to 20th. There will be lots of surprises and activities for the children. We are asking each
child to pay €5 towards the activities. You can pay online or to class teacher. We hope the
children have an enjoyable week.
Sports Day will be on Tuesday June 17th. Juniors – 2nd
class will be at the school while 3rd- 6th classes will be at the G.A.A. Club (more details
nearer the time).
School Tours are taking place next week too. We hope all the children have safe, enjoyable
trips.
On Friday June 13th we are welcoming the students who will be starting in Junior Infants in
September with us. We hope they will be very happy in our school as they embark in a new
chapter in their lives.
On Monday June 23rd we invite parents of our 6th class to join us in a graduation ceremony in
the School Hall at 7.30p.m. for the children as they mark the end of their primary school
education. We hope as many as possible can attend.
We are going to have a "Swop and Drop " Uniform Day in the hall on Friday June 20th at 2-
4p.m. If you have any uniform jumpers and shorts that are in good condition (and gone too
small for your child ) you might be able to swop them with another child. If interested you
can go the designated area for your child's age group. For those in 6th class with no siblings
you might consider donating the uniform (if in good condition ) to the school. Thanking you
in advance. To participate is optional.
Our Creative Schools Committee have organised a Creative Art Trail around the school.
You are invited to follow this trail on Friday June 20th, 2-4p.m. Everybody is welcome.
Our AR Team would like to thank those who sent in lots of reading books. We were
delighted with the responses. If any of you have books suitable for 4th class upwards we
would be most grateful if you donated them.
We would like to congratulate the Green Schools Committee on receiving our 6th Green Flag
on the Theme of Biodiversity. Well done to everyone involved in this. We hope to have a
little ceremony to raise the flag on Wednesday June 25th at 1.30p.m in the school grounds.
Parents and guardians welcome to attend.
We thank you for your co-operation in the traffic management plan at busy times of
collecting and dropping off children.
We remind you that the children will be active in school for the next few weeks. We ask that
the children do not wear crocs or sandals to school. We would like them to wear
comfortable/suitable footwear/runners to participate safely in planned activities over the next
few weeks.
