Dear Parents/Guardians,
Just to keep you updated on events coming up in the school.
• We have had a busy term of dance, music, colouring competitions, designing
Christmas cards, horse riding, football, camogie and hurling blitzes, library visits,
teaching and learning and we thank everybody involved in all these activities.
• We thank you all for your co-operation & patience with our Traffic Management
System in place. We remind you of our "One-way Traffic" Management system & of
our "Drop & Go System". We would ask that where possible if you are driving a
vehicle to Please Exit the school gates by turning Left - this greatly helps to keep a
continuous flow of traffic in/ around the school entrance/ carpark during peak hours.
• The First Holy Communion children had their Enrolment Mass last Sunday October
19th. We wish them well in their preparation for this very special milestone in their
lives.
• The Parents' Association are organising a Halloween Disco for all our pupils attending
Scoil Naomh Pádraig this Wednesday 6-8p.m. October 22nd. It starts at 6p.m for
Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st class and pupils from A.S. Classes. Pupils from 2nd
to 6th may come at 6.30p.m. All pupils may enter the disco through the back of the
school near the basketball courts. The cost is €5 per child or €10 per family. Due to
the large number of children in the school we ask that the parents of the children from
1st - 6th classes will drop and go.
Shop on the night, selling Party Bags €2.50, glow sticks €1.
D.J. Bertie and friends promise a great night . Children to be collected from
the hall, they will not be allowed to leave the hall without an adult.
Access to the hall is through the back of the school, reception front door will not be open. We thank
everyone for the organisation of this. We remind you that all proceeds are going
towards the resources for our Nurture Room.
• Thursday the 23rdOctober children are allowed to wear their Halloween costumes to
school. To do so is optional. If they choose not to wear a costume they may wear their
uniform instead.
• We congratulate our newly elected Student Council. We wish them well in their role
for the year and we know they have lots of Halloween surprises planned for Thursday.
We thank everybody involved in co-ordinating this committee.
• Congratulations to our Active Schools Committee who have been completing a
‘‘Skipathon Around The World’’ Each class is skipping with the total number of skips
converted into kilometres travelling around the world. We thank everybody involved in
organising this.
• Very shortly we will have the election of our Green Schools Committee. Balloting is
taking place currently!
• Our Creative Schools have been very busy too. 3rd class are enjoying Art Classes with
Sarah Buckley. We thank everybody involved in this project.
• We thank everybody who auditioned for Scór, and wish them well in their
preparations for the competitions taking place later in the year.
• We remind you that you may order a Christmas Annual for your child via Aladdin, if
you have any issues, you may pay class teacher. Closing date Wednesday 22nd Oct.
Cost €2.50. To order is optional.
• We remind you too that Children, must take home their uneaten food. You should send
a spare lunch box in your child's schoolbag for leftover foods, alternatively IRD Lunch
boxes are available to order for €5.
• We remind you of our Orange Recycling Bin, located at the side of the school. Please
feel free to use this bin to Recycle any of your used Cans / Plastic bottles from Home.
This is an excellent Fundraiser for our school with all donations going towards
furnishing Our Nurture Room.
• The school will be closing this Thursday October 23rd (A full day of school) and will
reopen again on Monday November 3rd. We are closed Friday October 24th to
facilitate the Presidential Election.
• To facilitate Staff training on the New Child Protection Guidelines the school will be
closed on Monday November 17th
.
• We have been informed of a Monster Quiz hosted by Convent Primary School Mallow
3rd-6th Class, Teams of 4, Thursday 23rd October 6-8pm, Held at Convent Primary
School P51D958, Entry fee €10 per child - This full includes Table quiz entry, Raffle
Tickets x3 & a Goody Bag.
• We remind you that it is very important that you are aware of your child's online
activity. Children should not engage in Online activities / Social Media, especially
Snap-Chat/ online games such as PlayStation Conversations etc. Please ensure your
child is only playing age-appropriate games / online activity. Please discuss the
importance of online behaviour with your child.
• If you need to meet a teacher at any time, please make an appointment by ringing the

Newsletter October 2nd 2025
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
We hope you are all keeping well.
We are pleased to share our Newsletter with you all to keep you up to date on events happening in Our School.
We remind you that the Parents' Association are holding their AGM in the school at 7.30pm. today Thursday the 2nd. As mentioned previously everybody is very welcome to attend. It is an opportunity for Parents to Meet & share ideas. You do not have to commit to every meeting; you will not be given any unwanted jobs.

The Children have now received their Christmas Card Templates in Junior Classes, while Senior Classes will be creating their own designs for their Christmas Cards. Please Note these must be completed & returned to the children's Class Teacher on or before OCTOBER 17TH. We look forward to seeing the children's finished products.
It is that time of year again, where Children will be working on their Entries for Kanturk Credit Union Art Competition. This Year's theme is "The Future in Bright". Closing date for entries is Thursday October 16th.
As the weather has changed, we ask you to ensure that your child takes a suitable coat/hat to school. Teachers encourage the children to wear their coats out in the yard.
We are now in the process of opening a Nurture Room in the school. "Nurture" means to take care of someone - help them grow & make them feel safe. This Nurture Room (when ready!!!) is a lovely room in the school, similar to a cosy space you may have at home. The Children visiting the room are helped to settle in the morning & prepare them forthe busy school day in the classroom. We feel this will be of huge benefit to children. We will have fundraising events, which will be going towards the development & supply of resources for this room. We look forward to opening it up & hope the Children will really benefit form their visits to it.
The Rural Schools' Football has started up again! On Tuesday Our Girls Football Team were in action, while the Boys will be participating in the competition this Tuesday Oct. 7th. We thank everybody involved in organising games & travelling with the children to these events.
Scór is an initiative where the Irish Culture is explored through Dance, Music, Art, History, Geography & Drama. You would have received a letter via email from the Scór Committee yesterday, (Attached please find a copy of this letter again) The Set Dancing Classes are commencing today Thursday October 2nd until October 23rd, in the School Hall from 3pm -4pm sharp. These are for Children in 2nd to 6th Class only, with a view to selecting a number of pupils to participate in the Set Dancing category of the Scór Na Bpáiste Competition. To Participate in these classes, are optional. If your Child is attending Set Dancing Class, You must collect them from the School Hall, at the back of the school .

As you know we introduced Accelerated Reading Initiative in the School last year. This is known as AR & is a computer-based reading Programme. It encourages independent reading, by allowing students to choose books that match their interests & reading levels. For AR to be successful we need to keep a well-stocked library of books. We are asking you to donate any books you might be finished with at home. We are looking for any books from beginners' level to early teenage books. We are not looking for Picture Books or Adult Novels. All Donations are greatly accepted & appreciated.

We have received the dates for the following: First Holy Communion: 09/05/26 at 10.30 a.m. Confirmation: 12/03/26- Time is to be confirmed by the Parish Office- We will advise you as soon as we receive this information.
We have lots of Committees in the School, Namely Student Council, Active Schools, Green Schools, Creative Schools. Each Class is represented on these committees. It gives the Children a voice in the School & encourages them to get involved in making decisions & organising events. We will keep you updated as these Committees engage in organising events. Elections are currently taking place for Student Council & Active Schools. We wish everyone involved all the best in their endeavours.
Children are enjoying their dancing sessions with Deirdre & Music with Alan. We welcome Cathal our GAA Coach today, who is here to develop & encourage football & hurling skills.
