We are Mrs Boyce's 6th Class and this year we will be sharing our FUN & Learning with you all through this blog.
6th Class buddied up with Junior Infants to read them some of our new books from our #EveryChildAReader Project. Another one of our #ReadingChallenges in the Project. #ReadingMatters
Stage 4 of our @Leargas_etwinn Sharing our ART stories.
We explored powerful images in History that told a story.
We recreated 3 images from History.
We loved the famous image - 'Lunch Atop a Skyscraper' 1932 and started off this stage by trying to recreate it.
For our 2nd image we recreated a scene from a Soup Kitchen in Ireland during the Famine Times.
The #GreatFamine occurred in 1845 - 1849 in Ireland when the potato crop failed and caused hunger, starvation and death.
And finally, as we are currently reading "The Spirit of the Titanic " by @NicolaPierce3 we tried to recreate an image of a Family leaving Ireland on the #Titanic in hopes of finding a better life in America.
Stage 5 of our @Leargas_etwinn #Project “Sharing Our Art Stories”
We had to create a piece of #Art that represents Us, our School, our Locality & our Place in Europe.
Sharing our Class Portrait … the finished product…
We are now on Stage 5 of OUR #TwinningEurope Project “Sharing Our Art Stories”.
Today we availed of the fine weather and expressed ourselves through Nature.
We made #Nature #Mandalas symbolising our unity, our connection with the Earth & the Circle of life
We were delighted today to have Mr O’ Sullivan teaching us about #Forces & #Gravity
We loved designing, making & testing #Parachutes
Congrats to B our 2024 6th Class Spelling Bee Champion. We are very proud of you.
We are taking part in an eTwinning Project called Sharing our ART Stories where we will connect with other schools from Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spain & Romania on the theme of Art.

This week we are researching and learning more about an Irish Artist, Eoin O' Connor. We are enjoying exploring his work and did a great job in trying to recreate some of his work.
Our first question on our “Sharing Our Art Stories” Project was What is Art?
We brainstormed this question and we were amazed at where it lead to.
Sharing this on our Word Cloud.
So proud of Paige in 6th Class & her wonderful Art.
Well done Paige.

The inspiration for his creation comes from the Infinity Gauntlet in the Avengers.
Well done K
Next up we had A's Aquarium - Inspired by a recent visit to an aquarium & her love for all things “fishy”, A used household rubbish - cardboard, tissue & clingfilm- for her creation. Well done A
Next up we had S’s Crocodile recycling bin. This was Inspired by our Green Schools Committee’s recent encouragement to put our classroom rubbish into the correct bins. Well done S
Next up we had The Robot Buddy by J This was Inspired by his love of Robots. This life size Robot was a big hit with everyone wanting to try it on for size. It has a space for the head, arms & legs.

Well done Girls👏👏
First up we had our the three girls who made “Elephant Toothpaste” for us. 👏👏🐘🐘
Then we had our three girls who caused a chemical reaction by adding Vinegar to Bread soda….causing an explosion.
Next up we had M who explored the connection between #Force & #Sound & Z who volunteered (we feel he was very brave!)
👏👏
Next up was L who showed us that oil and water don’t mix. The water always goes to the bottom as it has a higher density than oil.
R & J who also did an oil and water experiment. They added a food colouring to the oil so we could see the oil bubbles rising to the top.
Some of our fantastic students tried out some of the Science Experiments at home having watched the SFI Curious Minds Science Week Video in school yesterday.
R & A explored Gravity & Force and G tried out the Money experiment.
Well done to all.
We loved watching the chemical reaction between the vinegar and the baking soda in our Hallowe'en Science Experiment - AKA The Puking Pumpkin.
